Pickleball in Texas is about to get a major upgrade.
National brand Pickleball Power Play has officially launched a statewide team league designed to bring structure, excitement, and true championship progression to the sport. Modeled after successful tennis league systems, the new Power Play League will give players the opportunity to compete locally, advance regionally, and ultimately battle for Texas State titles at the prestigious Horseshoe Bay Resort this September.
For the first time, Texas pickleball players will have a clear pathway from hometown competition to a professionally organized state championship stage.

The Power Play League is built to mirror the format that has made tennis leagues so popular for decades—only now, it’s tailored specifically for pickleball.
The Spring 2026 season, which begins in March/April, will feature structured team competition across multiple regions in Texas. Registration is already open, and teams are forming now.
This is an 18+ gender-based league that will include:
8 total divisions
4 Men’s Divisions
4 Women’s Divisions
Skill Levels:
3.0 – 3.49
3.5 – 3.99
4.0 – 4.49
4.5+
Each division will compete locally with the goal of advancing to the ultimate prize: a trip to Horseshoe Bay Resort to compete in the Power Play Texas State Championships.
How The League Works
Just like tennis leagues, the Power Play League revolves around team captains and rosters.
Captains will recruit players to form a team
Teams will compete locally within their region
The best teams will advance to the state championship
Winners will represent their region at Horseshoe Bay
The minimum requirement is six players per team, but teams are allowed to roster as many players as they want. That means captains can truly build powerhouse teams to increase their chances of making a championship run.
The goal is simple:
Win locally → advance regionally → compete for a Texas State Championship.

A Huge Step Forward For Pickleball
This league represents more than just competition—it represents growth for the entire pickleball community.
By bringing a proven team league model to pickleball, Power Play is creating new opportunities for:
Local clubs
Teaching professionals
Team practices
Group lessons
Private lessons
Stronger social connections among players
It’s a system designed not only to elevate competition, but to strengthen communities across Texas.
“As a former tennis professional, I worked countless leagues throughout my career. When I saw that there wasn’t anything like that for pickleball, I knew Daniel and I could solve this and make something happen on a large scale. We’ve been involved in leagues for years and know exactly how to structure this.”
“We are excited to bring this to pickleball because it will really launch the social side of the sport in addition to the competitive side. For clubs and pros, this is a huge opportunity to create team group lessons, increase private lessons, and build a stronger community within their facilities. This league is going to be great for players and great for the industry as a whole.” - JEFF CONTRERAS
