Top 5 Reasons To Play in a Power Play Tournament
You paid the entry fee. You traveled to the tournament. You warmed up, stretched, and stepped onto the court ready to compete.
Then, before you know it, your tournament is practically over.
Sound familiar?
For players who love competing, few things are more frustrating than traveling to a pickleball tournament only to have their experience decided by a handful of single-game matches.
If you've been searching for pickleball tournaments with more games, more competition, and more opportunities to prove yourself, it's time to look at a different tournament experience.
That's exactly what Pickleball Power Play was built to deliver.
Why Pickleball Tournaments With More Games Matter
Not all pickleball tournaments are created equal.
Some tournaments use single games to 11 or 15 points to move players through the schedule quickly. While that format serves a purpose, it doesn't always deliver the experience competitive amateur players are looking for.
After all, you've invested your money, time, and energy into competing. Shouldn't you get meaningful opportunities to play?
At Pickleball Power Play, we believe the tournament experience should be about more than simply showing up, playing a few games, and heading home.
Here are five reasons why players should consider putting a Power Play tournament on their calendar.
1. Real Matches: Best Two Out of Three Games to 11
Let's start with one of the biggest differences.
Every Pickleball Power Play tournament match is best two out of three games to 11, win by two.
That's right. Every match.
Not just the championship match. Not just the semifinals. The format applies throughout round-robin and bracket competition.
Why does this matter?
Because one slow start shouldn't automatically determine your entire match.
Maybe your opponents come out firing and take the first game. In a single-game format, that could be the end of the match.
In a best-of-three format, you have an opportunity to make adjustments, change strategies, find your rhythm, and battle back.
You have to win two complete games to win the match.
That's the kind of competition we believe tournament players deserve.
2. More Games, More Opponents, and More Value
Think about everything that goes into playing a tournament.
There's the registration fee, travel, preparation, and sometimes even hotel accommodations.
Now imagine putting in all that effort only to spend most of the day waiting around instead of playing.
That's where the Pickleball Power Play round-robin format makes a real difference.
Rather than immediately eliminating players after a loss, our full round-robin structure gives competitors the opportunity to face multiple opponents before the championship bracket.
And remember, those aren't single games. They're best-of-three matches.
This creates more opportunities to compete, improve, test different strategies, and experience meaningful tournament play.
For many players, that's what makes a tournament worth attending.
More court time. More competitive experience. More value for your investment.

3. National Rankings: Every Tournament Is an Opportunity to Earn Points
What if every tournament you played meant something beyond that day's results?
With Pickleball Power Play, it can.
Our national ranking system allows players to earn points through tournament participation and results, building their standing as they compete throughout the season.
The tour features three levels of competition:
Qualifier Events: Up to 1,250 points for first place.
Premier Events: Up to 2,500 points for first place.
National Championships: Up to 5,000 points for first place.
As you compete, your results contribute to your national ranking within the Power Play system.
Want to know how you compare against other players? Our National Rankings page allows you to explore standings and filter by age, gender, and tour.
Whether you're competing in your first tournament or working toward the top of your division, you'll have another reason to keep improving.
And there's something exciting about knowing your next tournament could be an opportunity to climb the leaderboard.

Pickleball brings together people from different generations, backgrounds, and skill levels.
We believe those players deserve meaningful opportunities to compete.

Whether you're entering your first competitive tournament or have years of experience, the Amateur Tour offers structured competition with the signature Power Play match format.
Players can compete in Qualifier, Premier, and National events while earning points and building their tournament experience.
The Senior Tour: Exclusively for Players 50 and Older
For players 50 and older, we offer a dedicated Senior National Tour.
This isn't a watered-down version of our Amateur Tour.
Senior players get the same best-of-three matches, round-robin competition, national ranking opportunities, and pathway toward a National Championship.
It's a chance to compete within a tour built specifically for the 50+ pickleball community.
Pickleball Power Play also offers dedicated Junior and Wheelchair Tours, expanding opportunities for players across the sport.
Different players. Different stages of life. The same commitment to meaningful competition.
5. Nationwide Competition and a Path to Nationals
There's something special about competing against players beyond your local community.
You discover new playing styles, meet new people, challenge yourself against different opponents, and find out how your game stacks up.
Pickleball Power Play brings that opportunity to amateur players through a nationwide tournament series.
With events across the country, players can explore new tournament destinations and compete at different event levels throughout the season.
The journey includes local and regional opportunities through Qualifier Events, elevated competition at Premier Events, and the excitement of National Championships.
For players who love setting competitive goals, that creates something worth chasing.
Maybe your first goal is simply to enter a tournament and see how you perform.
Next, it could be earning your first medal.
Then, climbing your national rankings.
And eventually, competing for a National Championship.
Whatever your goals, the Power Play tournament experience gives you a place to start building toward them.

Ready to Get More Out of Your Next Pickleball Tournament?
The next time you're looking for a tournament, don't just look at the entry fee or location.
Look at the format.

Those details can make an enormous difference in your tournament experience.
At Pickleball Power Play, our philosophy is simple:
MORE GAMES. MORE COMPETITION. MORE OPPORTUNITIES.
We're building a national tournament experience where amateur players can compete, improve, earn rankings, and pursue bigger goals.
Your next tournament should be something you're excited to play, not something that's over before you get started.
