HORSESHOE BAY, TEXAS — Lubbock pickleball has officially made Texas history.
The Lubbock pickleball state championship run was nothing short of historic, as the Men’s 4.0 team finished the weekend undefeated against competition from across Texas.
Led by team captain Travis Kastner, the Lubbock Men’s 4.0 team completed an undefeated championship run at Horseshoe Bay Resort to capture the Pickleball Power Play Texas Team State Championship and become the first-ever Men’s 4.0 team to claim the title.
They didn't back into it.
They didn't need a second chance.
They went undefeated.
Representing Lubbock and the greater West Texas pickleball community, Kastner and his team went through opponents representing Fort Worth, New Braunfels, Austin, and a second Fort Worth team, winning every city-versus-city team matchup they played.
When the tournament was over, there was only one team left standing at the top.
Lubbock, Texas.
And now their names will forever be attached to a first.
