PLAYERS GUIDE

This guide is designed for players who plan to participate on a team but are not serving as team captain. It explains how to join a team, register as a free agent, understand league fees, and learn what to expect during the season. If you are planning to captain a team, please refer to the Captain’s Guide for detailed captain responsibilities and procedures. Even if you are not captaining, this guide will help you better understand how the league works and how to get the most out of your season.

WHO CAN PLAY?
  • Pickleball Power Play leagues are open to players of all ages and skill levels.

  • Players compete on teams organized by skill-based divisions.

  • Leagues are designed to be fun, competitive, and structured for all ability levels.

HOW TO JOIN A TEAM

How to Join a Team

If you want to play in the league, you have two main options:

Option 1 – Join a Team Directly

  • If you already know a captain or have been invited to a team, the captain will send you a private team registration link.

  • You must register through that link in order to officially join the team.

  • Players cannot join teams without using the captain’s unique link.

  • Option 2 – Register as a Free Agent

  • Players who do not have a team can register as a FREE AGENT.

  • Free agents are placed on a list that is shared with Regional Coordinators and team captains.

  • Coordinators will attempt to help connect free agents with teams that are looking for players.

  • Important Free Agent Notes

  • Registering as a free agent does NOT guarantee placement on a team.

  • Final roster decisions are always made by the team captains.

  • Regional Coordinators will do their best to help make connections, but placement is not automatic.

LEAGUE REGISTRATION FEES
  • All players pay a $75 Player League Fee to participate in the regular season.

  • This fee covers league administration, scheduling, and regular season play.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FEES
  • Teams that qualify for the State Championships will have a SEPARATE TEAM ENTRY FEE.

  • This fee is not included in the regular season league registration.

  • All qualifying teams will pay the same State Championship team fee.

  • Players should be aware of this additional cost if their team advances.

DIVISION PLACEMENT AND MOVEMENT
  • Players are allowed to compete up to half a skill level higher if their rating improves during the season.

Example:

  • A player who starts in a 3.0–3.49 division and improves to a 3.5 may also qualify to play in the 3.5–3.99 division.

  • If that player continues to improve (for example, reaching 4.0), they may also move into the 4.0–4.49 division.

This flexibility allows players to continue competing at the correct level as their game improves.

WHAT PLAYERS CAN EXPECT
  • Organized team competition

  • Scheduled league matches

  • Friendly and competitive environment

  • A fun and social pickleball experience
